The test procedure at Interpersonal in Hamburg takes 2 days for applicants from the AirBerlin flight school, consisting of a preselection test to check capacity and capability and a psychological part in order to assess social competence, motivation, team orientation and stress tolerance; it concludes with individual interviews, at which flight operations representatives also attend regularly.
Day 1: The Interpersonal procedure on Day 1 is divided into three blocks, starting with knowledge tests in mathematics, physics and English (including 2 translations from German to English). This is then followed by the capacity assessments including psychological questions and concludes with the "Mozard test", which represents the part of the aptitude test which reflects the actual work environment.
In detail, the tests comprise:
- mathematics (mental arithmetic and problem solving)
- physics (technical understanding)
- English (grammar and translation)
- the psychological profile with standardised psychological questionnaires
- the ability to absorb audio and visual information as well as spatial awareness
- ability to concentrate
- ability to perform under multiple demands and Mozard test
Day 2: Day 2 focuses on the psychological aspects; group role play and debate are followed by the concluding interview. In specifically chosen assessment group role plays and conflict resolution interviews, applicants have to demonstrate their ability to implement specified targets within a team.
At the end, each applicant has to pass a concluding interview by the aptitude assessment panel, in which any open questions arising from the aptitude data gathered to that point will be clarified.
Upon a positive conclusion, Interpersonal will issue a recommendation to AirBerlin Flight Operations.

In preparing for the IP test, the ATTC 3-step plan has proven particularly fit for purpose and successful:
1. Software training prior to the start of the course
Thanks to innovative training modules, all applicants have access to comprehensive and powerful software even before (!) the start of the seminar. The training software is continuously updated and adapted to the particular requirements of the test. In addition to exercises on the capacity assessment part of the test, including the Mozard training unit, the software also includes a powerful analysis module with diagrammed evaluation for the psychological questions.
2. Course introduction as part of a beginners' training week
Training starts with a detailed introduction to the current training modules of the IP test, with a particular focus on the individual analysis and assessment mechanisms at Interpersonal in order to provide the best tactical optimisation of the ATTC preparation for the specific procedure in Hamburg. A further focus in the beginners' training week is on subject lessons in: mathematics, physics, English and psychology. Many original questions and problems are studied in detail in the lessons. In addition to English lessons, there are individual training units for the translations from German to English that are to be expected as part of the test. The contents of the subject lessons will also be made available in an on-line training area (including lesson notes) for follow-up revision at home. Furthermore, up to the test date, ATTC subject teachers, trainers and psychologists are also available on-line to provide individual help and support. The ATTC training for Day 2 of the Interpersonal test begins with initial training units for the group role play moderated by ATTC trainers. Their content is closely modelled on original test questions from Interpersonal in Hamburg.
The group role-plays are performed in a variety of versions so that all possibilities and eventualities can be experienced during a role play. ATTC trainers show the best approaches appropriate to the situation; individual weaknesses are eliminated by repetition of specific aspects or by comprehensive repetition.
For the debates, ATTC trainers demonstrate successful strategies and actions to gain a positive benefit for a favourable assessment even from unexpected turns and flows of the debate.
The "script" for the Interview Training, as in the real test, also incorporates individual insights gained over the course of the seminar in addition to profile data from the psychological questions. In order to gain a better understanding of the role of the examining psychologists, the participants also take on the role of the AC observer and - as in the real test - complete the observation forms with the standard assessment criteria.
3. Follow-up revision at home and repeater week(s)
Training with a personal training plan in a combination of seminar and software training. Based on an analysis of current performance levels, repeater training involves intensive and individual training until ATTC examination standards are reached. Repeater training takes place once the ATTC beginners' training week has been passed; it is free of charge as part of the booking for ATTC trainees and can be repeated as often as desired.
